In his Preface to this important study, Philip Blair speaks of a desire to offer to the public a comprehensive statement of Christianity that does not subtly water down or otherwise misrepresent ‘the faith once delivered to the saints’. He echoes Martin Luther in insisting that the testimony of scripture combined with clear thinking must be the sole means of establishing what is and what is not authentic Christian belief and practice. The book has four Parts, covering the Christian attitude to the world, the nature and resources of the Church, challenges facing the believer, and biblical teaching about the future. Suffusing all is the pivotal figure of Jesus. This is Dr Blair’s fifth published work of religious and social significance. PHILIP BLAIR has had a long and varied career, mostly in the Middle East, as an Anglican priest, a university lecturer and, briefly, a businessman. He now lives with his wife Joanna in Dorset, UK.
